I am in great need and Jeanie of the PSAS group recommended I write you and not overwhelm you. I will try to do this…forgive me if I don’t.
Firstly, I’ve been running around to Urologists/ER’s the past few months not even knowing what PSAS was. I am in NYC, and although I mentioned that I have a history of urine retention, and had a recent ileostomy (however, my rectum wasn’t removed)and all thought i was “nuts” when I told them I have constant sexual urges that come out of nowhere, don’t leave and only increase, with momentary relief if I do orgasm (since, I have been unable to achieve orgasm, and 6 days ago, I have to CATH every time i urinate, which is a nightmare, while excited. I was checked for Chlamydia, prostatitis, BPH…nothing, although I wonder now..as i feel a huge lump in pelvis.
Simulataneously, I had this ileostomy surgery almost a year ago…however, he didn’t remove my rectum and gave me a temporary “loop” ileostomy. I’ve complained to the surgeon about a severe pressure in sigmoid/deep rectum area 24/7 (can barely sit)…but he said, “not untilyou gain weight”. Unfortunately, I have a double herniated large intenstine, so when I get past 135 lbs (6’1″ tall), it feels as though my belly is ripping in two.
On my last visit…on the access-a-ride trip home, I became annoyingly stimulated. Since then, I have been waking up w/severe urges, I fear eating as i’m on BOOST Plus I mix w/Cranberry juice and soft foods…protein seems to really get me going. I stopped drinking milk years ago…and went on Soy, as I went on a diet a dropped from 267 to 179…then, I lost my ability to urinate and needed laxatives; developed “severe global colonic inertia’ (thus the ileostomy).
I will stop now, as I do not want to overwhelm you…but, let me just leave with this…I have never suffered like this in my life, and i fear awakening, I fear walking, because once an episode begins, it can go straight for 9 days, even w/ powerful narcotics for the pains from Avascular Necrotic Hips, knee and shoulder, Peri-Neuropathy and the double herniated intestine, and diverticulosis. Sometimes all the pains with the sudden addition of psas and cathing everytime I need to urinate, I want it all to end. And I’m 49 years w/a degree in Psychology.
If you have any suggestions for me, or would be willing to converse with my Doctor(s), please let me know. Unfortunately I’m on disability, but, I’ll do what I can.
PS…sice cox 2 is bad, and 1 & 3 are good…would adding Celebrex do anythng to relieve even a little bit of my episodes, as I Must travel to surgeon on Monday and try to convince him again to remove my colon/rectum and or fix my hernia.
ANSWER
Any kind of interventions in the pelvic area are very dangerous and can lead to numerous complications.
My guess is that the parasympathetic nerves were damaged or pinched. Pelvic Splanchnic Control is not working properly.
The bad news is that a mere fix in the biochemistry won’t deliver the results needed.
Cox 2 is not bad, it is vital for the proper functioning of the human body. However, everything in excess may prove to be harmful. Celebrex may bring some relief, but I doubt it will be a notable one.
